John Cleese Concert Live at Southam Hall at National Arts Centre | Ottawa
The Babs Asper Theatre at the National Arts Centre is a true gem in Ottawa's cultural scene, especially for fans of live performances and legendary musicians. It’s not just a venue but a living history, with a treasure trove of historic productions stored online, letting you peek into decades of artistic brilliance. I mean, they celebrated the 50th anniversary back in 2019 with a bang, and if you’ve ever sat in those comfy, perfectly arranged seats, designed to give everyone a clear view, you’d know this place takes its audience seriously. The theatre’s exterior got a facelift in 2015, keeping its historic charm alive while blending modern touches. The layout is smart, each seat, whether on the mezzanine or in the orchestra, offers an unobstructed view, making it feel like the stage is right there with you. And don’t forget, if you’re coming from the Ottawa Jail Hostel or wandering around the city, just head west towards the arts centre. Seeing John Cleese perform in this space, well, it’s exactly the kind of Ottawa experience that sticks with you, funny, slightly surreal, and utterly memorable.
